Overview

Gambling Act 2005 - Review of Statement of Licensing Principles

We are reviewing our joint South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Statement of Licensing Principles, otherwise known as our Gambling Policy, and would like to hear what you think.

This policy details how we deal with applications for gambling activities whilst being consistent with the three licensing objectives to prevent gambling from being associated with crime and disorder, ensuring gambling is fair and open and protecting children and other vulnerable persons from harm or exploitation.

There is a legal requirement for the councils to review the gambling policy every three years. Our current policy is due to expire in January 2025.

The only amendments made to the policy are essential changes to dates and to correct minor errors, as there
have been no relevant legislative changes or issues which would indicate that we should make more substantial changes.

Please note the deadline for completing this survey is 11.59pm on Friday 30 August.

Once the consultation has closed we will collate and present the responses to our licensing committees for consideration; we currently expect this to happen in November 2024. The councils will then make a final decision on the revised policy in December 2024. Once approved, we will publish the revised policy on our websites (South and Vale).
