Overview

Would your business be interested in carbon credit opportunities?

As part of our work with the Oxfordshire Local Nature Partnership, and in line with our commitment to tackling climate change while supporting the local economy and environment, we are exploring the potential for Oxfordshire-based carbon credit schemes.

What are Oxfordshire-based carbon credit schemes?

These are new schemes that support local projects in Oxfordshire to reduce carbon emissions and improve communities. These projects may include:

  • Nature-based sequestration (carbon storage) projects, such as tree planting, habitat creation/restoration and natural flood defence systems.
  • Carbon avoidance initiatives, such as supporting building retrofits that reduce carbon emissions.

We want to understand whether businesses like yours have an interest in purchasing or investing in carbon credits from local projects either to support Oxfordshire’s net zero goals or as part of your own sustainability strategy.

We want to hear your views from Wednesday 20 August until 11:59pm on Sunday 7 September.

What happens next?

The results will be used to help shape the development of any future nature-based carbon credit scheme in Oxfordshire and ensure it meets the needs and expectations of local businesses. A summary report of the results will be shared with local partners and around the county as part of the Innovate UK funded Fast Followers programme.

If you would like to be contacted about emerging local carbon credit schemes, please provide us with your email address in the survey. Further information on data protection is available in our privacy statement.

If you have any questions about this consultation or require it in an alternative format (for example large print, Braille, audio, Easy Read and alternative languages), please email jointheconversation@southandvale.gov.uk or call 01235 422425.
