Your chance to get involved with Didcot Garden Town: sign-up form

Closes 31 Mar 2025

Opened 21 Nov 2023

Overview

It is an exciting time for the Didcot Garden Town project as it comes off the delivery plan pages into real life community projects! The garden town team are implementing the new refocused Didcot Garden Town (DGT) Delivery Plan, which was approved in 2022.

They are working on how to deliver the projects that the community has identified as the most important to bring greater social, economic and environmental benefits to the town. These projects compliment the wider delivery of just over 15,000 new homes and 20,000 new jobs coming in the town and surrounding areas.

The DGT masterplan has details on how growth should happen to bring the maximum benefit to existing and new residents by improving the quality of life - bringing new facilities such as new schools, community centres and shops in the right locations. New roads and transport facilities were outlined so people can get around the town more easily using public transport, walking and cycling and vibrant community spaces are planned for all age groups to encourage health and wellbeing.

The status has helped Didcot to receive significant investment from the government to help deliver growth in all areas - not just new homes and jobs. Garden town status emphasises the importance of keeping areas of unique green space for everyone living in area.  A garden town can attract new sustainable and smart technology that helps to reduce the impact on the environment and funding to help to improve connections between the town and local villages and the surrounding countryside.
