Are you a voluntary organisation or community group that represents any of the ‘protected characteristics'?

The Equality Act 2010 introduced the term “protected characteristics” to refer to groups that are protected under the Act. Protected characteristics are legally defined as:

  • age
  • gender reassignment
  • being married or in a civil partnership
  • being pregnant or on maternity leave
  • disability
  • race including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

We are committed to delivering excellent services and we want to ensure we are listening to groups like yours through our consultations and engagement.

By registering to be a part of our equalities database, your voluntary organisation or community group will be invited to take part in consultations and share your thoughts and ideas with the councils.
